illegal-logging

"For us, the forest is a part of nature and the forest is a sector of the economy. We care about how the forest grows and how the community develops, because the forest, although self-sustaining, is an exhaustive resource, without which the community will not have a comfortable home, as well as the forest inhabitants."

Report illegal logging

Since the beginning of 2020, the volume of illegal deforestation in Ukraine has decreased by 34% compared to the same period last year.

According to Zablotskyi, last year the volume of illegally cut timber amounted to 43.3 thousand cubic meters in three months, and 28.5 thousand cubic meters in the first quarter of 2020.

In addition, employees of the state forest protection service handed over 616 cases to the police and court.

At the same time, the State Forestry Agency noted that fakes about the alleged increase in illegal logging in Ukraine have begun to appear on social media and dubious websites.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law banning deforestation in the Carpathians.
