ANALYSIS OF BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION IN FOREST RESTORATION PLANNING
Today, it is particularly important to assess biodiversity conservation in forest restoration. Ukraine's forest coverage is 15.9%. By caring for the preservation of forest biodiversity, forest users automatically protect a significant area where various organisms reside and interact within ecosystems.
Let us remind you that biodiversity encompasses the variety of all living organisms, including animals, plants, aquatic life, birds, algae, fungi, and more, which, through their interactions, form diverse ecosystems.
Prioritizing economic benefits from forest management while disregarding the threat of biodiversity loss can undermine the resilience of forest ecosystems, contribute to species loss, and worsen living conditions for humans.
Taras Kharachko, PhD, Head of ForestCom “Forest Recovery Center” conducted an expert analysis of the forest biodiversity in forest restoration measures based on the activities of forest users in the Zakarpattia oblast.
