Excursions for IDPs in Znesinnya Park

ForestCom NGO in collaboration with Regional Landscape Park "Znesinnya”, supported by the United Voices in Action program by IREX, invites IDPs and local residents to participate in excursions around the unique natural and historical complex of Ukraine's State Forest Enterprise, where the oldest traces of our ancestors have been discovered and preserved within Lviv's territory.

During the excursion, guided by park staff and ForestCom’s experts, we will learn interesting facts about the place where, according to legends, the ancient city Lviv once stood. Formerly a suburban village, later a suburb, it is now a part of Lviv with the largest green area. Here, you can see rare steppe plants, fossil remains of marine fauna, forest-covered hills, a valley lake, and small woodland animals, and according to locals, even wild boars. There are also numerous archaeological sites and places of historical significance.

Together, we will immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of the first pagan settlements, witness rare trees and shrubs, exposed sandstones and limestone bearing remnants of prehistoric marine life, and observe the spring awakening of the plant world.

Furthermore, our excursions mark the first stage of the project involving the planting of 100 common oak trees within the territory of Regional Landscape Park "Znesinnya”. After learning more about this special area, its history, flora, and fauna, you may choose to return in a month to plant your family's tree. By doing so, you will not only contribute to greening Lviv but also leave a personal connection to the land that provides sanctuary.

We INVITE internally displaced persons aged 30+ and residents of the Lviv community.

WHEN? April 6th and 13th, 2024.

Excursions start at 11:00 AM.

Participation is free of charge.

On the eve of the excursion, we will provide all registered participants with the meeting location and detailed organizational information.

These excursions are part of the “ForestCom with IDPs: Forest for IDPs" project. The project aims to facilitate the integration of IDPs and strengthen social cohesion within the Lviv community, fostering dialogue between IDPs and local residents and creating connections with the local community through collaborative work and environmental education initiatives.
