NGO "ForestCom" invites volunteers to monitor the protection of unique nature spots
"ForestCom" experts invite volunteers to start a series of field trips to monitor protected by law unique forest spots and other territories of nature conservation significance in the Lviv region, which do not have their own administration. Among them, there are nature reserves with different purposes of conservation and levels of protection (forest, landscape, botanical, zoological, etc.), including also natural monuments. Historically, in terms of number and area, such territories prevail over national parks and nature reserves. However, they are often overlooked, which may lead to non-compliance with the prescribed nature protection regime.
The goal of "ForestCom" is to protect the forests of Ukraine, particularly through developing civil society knowledge in the field of public control of nature protection and wise use of available resources.
These trips will have, above all, eco-educational significance. During the trips, volunteers will learn how to:
- work with documents related to an individual nature conservation fund territory;
- deal with afforestation maps;
- identify and search for unique natural spots for future preservation;
- determine whether or not there are violations of the nature protection regime.
What will nature gain from such work?
- timely detection of violations of the nature protection regime;
- facilitation of nature conservation fund territories demarcation in fields, if this has not been done yet;
- inventory and monitoring of natural objects valuable for conservation (red book listed plants and animals, old trees, or whole old sections of the forest, hollow trees, and dead accumulations (which have great importance for the life in the forest);
- the possibility of improving wildlife habitats through the development and implementation of further necessary conservation measures (arrangement of protection shelters, elimination of littering, etc.).
Important and interesting work awaits us! We will organize trips in small groups. In the case of a large number of applicants, preference will be given to registered participants who have already been to previous expeditions. Check for the announcement that will be published on our website and social media soon.
You can become a volunteer simply by filling out registration form on the website.
