How corruption threatens the forests of Ukraine
Today, April 5, at 4:00 p.m. a round table will be held in an online format on the topic: "How corruption threatens the forests of Ukraine" with the participation of international and Ukrainian experts.

Аn online event to launch a comprehensive new analysis of corruption and illegal logging in Ukraine.
During the round table, the report "How corruption threatens the forests of Ukraine: Typology and case studies on corruption and illegal logging" will be presented, which is the first in the Basel Institute's Environmental Corruption Deep Dive series.
The report systematically assessed the pre-war administration and corruption problems in the forest sector of Ukraine, identified significant problems, as public administration reforms have not yet had a significant effect.
Opening remarks are by Claudio Nardi, Counsellor, Office for Foreign Affairs of Liechtenstein. Liechtenstein is funding the research series and is a core donor to the Basel Institute's Green Corruption programme.
Co-authors Amanda Cabrejo le Roux, Andrii Biletskyi and Yehor Hrynyk will then present the typology of corruption and illegal logging that emerged from their research and case studies.
This will be followed by a discussion of the report’s recommendations with a panel including Iaroslav Teleshun, Senior Policy Expert, WWF Ukraine, and representatives of the Ukrainian authorities.
Juhani Grossmann, Team Leader Green Corruption at the Basel Institute, will moderate.
