How Ukrainians Live in Temporary Accommodation Centers: Current Realities and Future Challenges
😢With the onset of war and its escalation, millions of Ukrainians have faced one of the deepest fears — losing their homes. Forced relocation is always a significant challenge, essentially a complete rebuilding of life.
Temporary accommodation centers are increasingly becoming long-term shelters for internally displaced persons, often for several years. Unfortunately, these centers frequently struggle to meet basic needs for a comfortable life.
Yesterday, the team from the NGO ForestCom visited the residents of the "Dzherelnyi" sanatorium in the village of Modrychi, Lviv region, now functioning as a temporary accommodation center. The center urgently needs to replace an old boiler. While the staff is eager to install a new one, the old boiler must first be dismantled and removed. Volunteers are needed to assist with the removal process. Additionally, residents mentioned a persistent lack of basic food supplies, hygiene products, and household essentials. If you can help, please contact us at info@forestcom.org.ua.
We also visited the NGO “Karpatsky Luhy” in Truskavets, which shelters around 20 people, most of whom are elderly. The shelter urgently requires heating pellets, food, animal feed, and other basic supplies. Please reach out to us if you can provide assistance.
❤️ During wartime, it is crucial to look around and connect with vulnerable individuals—especially those who have lost their homes and are striving to regain a sense of security. Often, we have the resources to help; all it takes is initiative and communication.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the 外交部 Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ROC(Taiwan) for providing humanitarian assistance.
