Humanitarian activities of the ForestСom NGO: results of the 2023

Thanks for the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Republic of China (Taiwan) ForestСom NGO continued to provide its humanitarian assistance in 2023, primarily focused on identifying and addressing urgent humanitarian issues faced by people in difficult situations, due to the war.

During 2023, more than 75 000 residents of 23 regions of Ukraine received humanitarian aid through ForestCom. This became possible thanks to the support and help of partners, in particular, the public organization "Support Ukraine /London Euromaidan", "British-Ukrainian Aid", the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Republic of China (Taiwan)  外交部 Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ROC(Taiwan), as well as the Advisory and Coordination Center, which works at the Lviv Regional State Administration.

During the autumn period (August-December 2023), coordination efforts were carried out in collaboration with British partners, including the reception of humanitarian aid and subsequent contact with recipients in Ukraine. This involved either sending parcels through Nova Poshta (Ukrainian postal service) or delivering them directly to local recipients.

In cooperation with “Support Ukraine / London Euromaidan” and “British-Ukrainian Aid” the following categories of civilians received assistance, which was received and sent across Ukraine through Nova Poshta:

  • Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) (based on a Memorandum of Cooperation signed with the regional Consultative and Coordinating Center, working under the auspices of the Lviv Regional Military Administration).

  • Local residents facing difficult circumstances.

  • Fellow citizens defending our country from aggressors.

According to Lyubov Kondratyuk, the coordinator of the NGO's humanitarian activities, “The assistance provided is documented through material value acceptance-transfer acts. Reports of our activities can be found in relevant Signal groups. Assistance to the civilian population (food) is also recorded in reports for the Food Security and Livelihoods Cluster. Depending on our capabilities, the aid can vary in scope, but it is consistently provided. Our support for people continues as the war continues to cause significant humanitarian needs.”

"The latest innovations from the government regarding the issue of the passage and accounting of humanitarian aid under martial law will, of course, complicate our work, but we hope that we will overcome this challenge as well," adds executive director of the NGO ForestCom Dmytro Karabchuk.

The volume and geography of the assistance provided are documented on virtual platforms.

It is worth noting that the NGO Forestcom participates in regular meetings organized by OCHA Ukraine and the regional military state administration (within the framework of signed Memorandums).

We also continue cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Republic of China (Taiwan) 外交部 Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ROC(Taiwan), thanks to whose support and help, at the end of October, volunteers of the NGO Forestcom handed over humanitarian aid (50 sets of stationery, clothes and cookies) to IDPs who live in the Stryy community.

As a reminder, in 2023 thanks to cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan, the Network for the Protection of National Interests "ANTS", the Polish Center for International Aid we managed to implement a large humanitarian project entitled "Local Humanitarian Initiative: Delivery of Aid from Taiwan to Ukraine", as a result of which humanitarian aid was received by more than 34 thousand people.

We appreciate the cooperation of the Australian charity organization, The Thin Green Line Foundation; thanks to its colossal support, a large contribution was made to support the families of the foresters who were killed by russian occupiers.

In addition to material assistance (food, hygiene products, medicines, clothes, etc.), we actively conduct ecological and educational excursions and forest therapy for people who need to improve their well-being, restore their emotional state, increase stress resistance, and care. and foster mental health.

Together we can more!
