 Invest in the Carpathians: a token of appreciation for supporting the development of rehabilitation and tourism infrastructure in the national park

Verkhovyna National Nature Park is a region of untouched nature at the headwaters of the Black and White Cheremosh rivers. Its pristine landscapes have been preserved and are valuable both for scientific research and for the development of recreational and rehabilitation infrastructure.

For the past three years, the environmental organizations Global Conservation and ForestCom have been collaborating on the project “Development of Verkhovyna National Nature Park as an attractive rehabilitation and tourism hub.” The project addresses key challenges faced by the park: insufficient funding, underdeveloped rehabilitation and tourism infrastructure, and limited informational support. Special attention is given to the development of inclusive infrastructure for the recovery of individuals affected by military actions or other traumas. These plans are being implemented through the creation of the Perkalaba Gate rehabilitation and tourism hub.

Within the hub project in Perkalaba, the team has already completed several important steps: conducting preliminary research and planning, preparing the site for visitors, and supporting the development of inclusive infrastructure and informational support for the park. These stages have laid a solid foundation for the next step — the construction of a camping pavilion.

The camping pavilion with an equipped area will become:

  • a space for rest and rehabilitation for military personnel and people with disabilities;

  • an attraction for tourists;

  • a key component of the future rehabilitation and tourism hub infrastructure.

To carry out this initiative, we are seeking financial partners willing to contribute to the development of sustainable tourism and nature conservation in the Carpathians. Each partner who joins the project will be recognized in the pavilion’s creation according to the level of support. More details are available in the project presentation.
