NGO "ForestCom" signed the Memorandum of Partnership and Cooperation with four territorial communities of Lviv region
On July 19, the ForestCom team and representatives of the Boryslav, Zhuravne, Zolochiv, and Shchyretsk territorial communities held a meeting to establish cooperation and coordinate joint efforts to ensure the humanitarian needs of IDPs aged 30 and over. The parties signed a Memorandum on the implementation of joint volunteer and humanitarian activities.
"Recognizing the need to join forces to overcome the humanitarian challenges caused by the war and to document our intent for further cooperation, we concluded this Memorandum of Partnership and Cooperation. The purpose of this document is to create and develop a network of regional solidarity to identify and meet the urgent humanitarian needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs ), in particular, over 30 years of age, who are officially registered and people who find themselves in difficult life circumstances and live in the territory of communities of the Lviv region through the coordination and joint implementation of volunteer and humanitarian activities," the document says.
For the next three months, the ForestCom team, in cooperation with representatives of territorial communities, will ensure the humanitarian needs of IDPs living on the territory of these communities.
"The war forced us to expand the activities of our organization. Along with environmental protection activities, we started implementing a humanitarian aid project for people in the communities most affected by Russia's military aggression. However, there are many people who were forced to leave their homes and in the first days of the war settled in Lviv Oblast in schools and kindergartens. They also need help. That is why we are starting to implement this project," shares Dmytro Karabchuk, chairman of the board of the ForestCom NGO.
All parties have already made a lot of efforts to ensure that the IDPs living in their communities are provided with everything they need. The signing of the Memorandum will give impetus to joint work, and friendly, partner relations will help to overcome any challenges of today.
"The first IDPs arrived in our community on March 9. At that time, we were ready to receive them. Everything was organized in a week on our own. Currently, there are 275 IDPs living in the community, who are accommodated in 5 educational institutions. These people have lost their homes and have nowhere to return. They will live in the Boryslav community and will constantly need food and hygiene products," said Ella Kachmarik, Head of Education Department of Boryslav City Council, Boryslav Territorial Community;
This event become possible thanks to the support of the «Єднання заради дії»(Unity for action) program.
