GREEN HANDS: Preserving Forest Ecosystems through Energetic Learning and Thoughtful Action – Forest Educational Initiatives

Project Goal:
The goal of the project is to foster environmental awareness and understanding of sustainable forest management principles among schoolchildren in Kamianka-Buzka through interactive, practice-oriented environmental education.

Project Objectives:

• to develop and implement a modern environmental education program for students in grades 3 to 7, combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on skills;

• to establish a school tree nursery to teach students the basics of artificial forest regeneration;

• to introduce children to the role of birds in forest ecosystems through the construction, installation, and maintenance of bird feeders and nesting boxes;

• to nurture an emotional connection with nature through forest therapy practices and wildlife observation.
  
  

Project Beneficiaries:
The direct beneficiaries are approximately 150–180 students in grades 3 to 7 from three schools in Kamianka-Buzka.
Indirect beneficiaries include biology, technology, and “Health, Safety, and Well-being” course teachers; parents; the local community of Kamianka-Buzka; environmental education specialists from conservation institutions; a network of educators interested in innovative approaches to environmental education; and branches and partners of Swiss Krono Group.

Project Structure:
The project consists of two interrelated mini-projects based on the principles of interactive and experiential learning. This approach allows students not only to acquire theoretical knowledge but also to develop practical skills and build an emotional bond with nature.
